Harvest Park PBIS Platinum Recognition
The California State PBIS Coalition has recognized Harvest Park Middle School for its strong implementation of the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program this past school year. Harvest Park Middle School was awarded the Platinum award for the quality of its behavior program.
For the 2023–2024 school year, Harvest Park achieved a historic milestone by earning the Platinum award for the first time. It was the only secondary school in Pleasanton Unified School District—and one of just nine in Alameda County—to receive this highest level of recognition. Building on this success, Harvest Park proudly maintained its excellence by earning the Platinum award again for the 2024–2025 school year.
PBIS is a proactive, school-wide program that targets and encourages positive student behaviors. PBIS is a multi-tiered system that supports students with direct curriculum, fun student activities, and promotes an overall culture of safety, inclusion, and respect on the school campus.
Every school has its own PBIS program that is tailored to the individual site’s needs. And not every school implements its PBIS program equally. If implemented properly, PBIS can improve every area across the campus, including increased attendance, reduction of disciplinary referrals, more engaged learning environments, and better academic and citizenship outcomes for students.

What is Positive Behavior Interventions & Support?
Positive Behavior Interventions & Support (PBIS) is an approach to supporting students to be successful in schools. PBIS was developed from research in the fields of behavior theory and effective instruction. PBIS supports all students through intervention ranging from a school-wide system to a system for developing individualized plans for specific students. School-wide PBIS focuses on the development and implementation of pro-active procedures and practices to prevent problem behavior for all students and improve school climate.
What are the responsibilities of the school-wide PBIS team?
- Hold PBIS meetings on -site once per month to plan and coordinate school-wide behavior systems. The team is responsible for planning PBIS activities and programs (such as the PBIS Kick-Off, acknowledgement assemblies, and booster lessons of school rules) and continually monitoring and updating PBIS programs.
- Present PBIS news at staff meetings to keep staff up to date with school PBIS programs and receive input and feedback from staff.
