Harvest Park Middle School Weekly Update

September 20, 2021

Principal’s Message to Families

Happy Monday!

Hello fantastic HP community!  As we roll into the 7th week of school, I wanted to give a shoutout to all the wonderful students we are lucky enough to have here.  Students are getting to class, being successful, and we could not be prouder.  In case your student needs additional support, they can talk with our counselors about our after school tutorial program which has begun this week.  We also will be starting our clubs soon!  We are super excited.  Starting september 30th, we will support students to launch their clubs.  Once paperwork is filled out, we will have a Club Rush week (likely the second week in October).  Clubs will still have to follow all the necessary protocols before and after school (not at lunch).

Covid Safety Information

Important Dates

COVID Update -

  1. Please be mindful of going to the pop up testing location at Stoneridge Mall. We are finding that some of the results are not the test that is needed to clear students to return to campus.
  2. Masks - Neck Gators are not allowed for students to wear on PUSD campuses.
  • Wrapping up MAP Testing through September 30

  • PTSA Meeting September 23 at 7pm in the MPR

Needs to Know

Tutorials have begun.  Starting September 20th, we will have math and ELA support after school.  Please reach out to your students counselor for more details.  Math - M/F and ELA - T/Th from 3:15-4:15 pm.

Access (Tuesdays & Thursdays) & FLEXISched: Students sign up on Wednesdays during Advisory class for the following Thursday and Tuesday. Students receive an email on Thursday morning with their schedule. Any issues can be sent via Support Desk ticket

MAP Assessment: Despite some technical hiccups, our students have nearly completed the MAP testing with makeups continuing this week. MAP family reports will be available after September 30, 2021.

Lunch time attendance - we are having students scan in so that we can know where they are in case we have to do contract tracing.  There is no penalty for not signing in.  This is entirely to promote safety and wellness.

Sports and clubs - The Alameda County released guidance on Friday regarding Extra-Curriculars including band, sports, and clubs. We are working on the protocols to put into place to make sure that we can have these events on campus. We are hoping to start clubs and sports in October. In preparation, we will have a club rush week in October. Mrs. Castro and Mrs. Hurtado will be setting up Access Sessions to help students with the paperwork beginning September 30.
