Principal’s Message to Families

Good morning,

Hello fantastic parents and community members!  I hope your Labor Day weekend was restful and amazing.  In this week’s Needs To Know, we will try to answer questions that came up during Coffee with the Principal.  We are describing in detail the protocols for Covid below (see link), how MAP testing works, after school programming in October, and Lunch attendance.

COVID Protocols Update -

  1. Families will be contacted when their student has been in close contact (within 6 feet or less for 15 minutes or more). Mrs. Hurtado will be confirming vaccination status to clear students as quickly as possible.
  2. Per the County Guidance, we must notify the community when there is a positive case on campus.
  3. If you are sick, please stay home.

Masks -  Please remind students that neck gaters are NOT recommended for wear at school. Also make sure that your student has a spare mask in their backpack.

Needs to Know

MAP Assessment: Despite some technical hiccups, our students have nearly completed the MAP testing with makeups continuing this week. MAP family reports will be available after September 30, 2021.

Lunch time attendance - we are having students scan in so that we can know where they are in case we have to do contract tracing.  There is no penalty for not signing in.  This is entirely to promote safety and wellness.

Sports and clubs - The Alameda County released guidance on Friday regarding Extra-Curriculars including band, sports, and clubs. We are working on the protocols to put into place to make sure that we can have these events on campus. We are hoping to start clubs and sports in October. In preparation, we will have a club rush week in October. Mrs. Castro and Mrs. Hurtado will be setting up Access Sessions to help students with the paperwork

Field Trips - At this time, field trips are not approved.

FRENCH classes -- We appreciate all French student families as we diligently work to fill our open French teaching position. We have a long-term sub, Ms. Lewin, in the class at this time who will be with us for some time. Please welcome her with kind support as she jumps in.  We are super excited!

For placement into our advanced math tracks, we used a score of 251 (90% correct) and a CAASPP score of 4 (with all 3’s for each category).  If you have any questions please let me know.

PE clothes order was already done.  If you did not order, please reach out to your PE teacher.
