Safety

Each school year, students practice the emergency and evacuation procedures at least once a quarter. Drills may be in the form of Earthquake, Fire or Intruder Drills. During these scheduled drills, students learn the appropriate procedures for each potential emergency. Information is shared on HPTV by our administration and counselors, and then specific information is shared by teachers with each class.

In the event of an actual emergency, our staff members are prepared to remain on campus for a minimum of 72 hours, as required by law. During this time, faculty and staff assist in supervising students and partner with local law enforcement agencies for any search and rescue procedures. Students are released to their parents and guardians, as stated on the pupil’s Emergency Card. Therefore keeping an accurate and up to date Emergency Card in the main office, is one of the most important things parents can do.

If a neighbor or friend of the family, is not on the emergency card, we will not be able to release your child into their custody. This is also true for any doctor appointments, or if your child is sick and needs to be taken home.

Emergency Student Pick up Location will be determined based on the extent of the emergency. Parents will be informed of the location and will be able pick up their children in an orderly, check-out fashion, with the assistance of our office staff.
