Our boys basketball program is offered to students in 6th grade, 7th grade and 8th grade. Before trying out, all students must have the athletic packet and physical form turned in.

  • The 6th grade team typically carries 15-20 students and rotate students evenly throughout each game. Scores and records are not kept, and there are no playoffs. The goal of 6th grade basketball is to provide an opportunity for students interested in learning more about basketball and being part of our middle school team.
  • Tryouts for the 6th grade team typically take place in late August and for 2-3 days, from 3:15-4:30 pm on the outside basketball courts. Tryout dates will be broadcast on HPTV and posted on the school website. At HPMS, we realize that being part of an athletic team is very important to our students. Therefore, we make every attempt to inform students of the coaches decision regarding team selection, in a personal and compassionate manner.
  • The first game will start the following week. When the schedule is finalized, it will be passed out to students and posted on the school website.

  • The 7th grade basketball team carries an average of 10-12 students. Tryouts typically take place in late August and run 2-4 days from 3:15-4:45 pm in the gym. Athletic Community Service

Keeping in line with the Pleasanton Unified School District’s new Mission and Vision statements:

Mission:
Our students will make a better world

Vision:
Every student will be a resourceful, resilient, responsible and engaged world citizen.

This year, all HP student athletes are being asked to contribute a minimum of 2 hours of service back to their school or community. As a team, there are many ways teams will be able to contribute or give back to the community or to the improvement of our campus. Ideas should be discussed by the team and coach, then approved by the Athletic Director, Jack Parsons.
