Set a Readiness Baseline
As part of the SAT Suite of Assessments, the PSAT 8/9 will support all students with early feedback on the skills and knowledge that matter most for college and career success. Educators will have an early opportunity to:
- Measure and follow student performance.
- Ensure students are on target to achieve college and career readiness.
- Pinpoint areas for development.
The PSAT 8/9 will focus on the knowledge and skills that current research shows are most essential for college and career readiness and success. The test will reflect the work students are doing in classrooms across the country and around the globe.
When students open their PSAT 8/9 test books, they’ll encounter a test that is focused and useful. The redesign of the SAT Suite of Assessments is centered on key content changes.
Inside the Test
Find out what kinds of questions will be asked on the PSAT 8/9 and which skills and knowledge areas it will test:
The test is aligned with the PSAT 10, PSAT/NMSQT, and SAT. All of these tests focus on the same domain of knowledge and skills. As students progress from grade to grade, the tests will keep pace, matching the scope and difficulty of work found in the classroom. Learn more about the content alignment of the SAT Suite of Assessments.
The PSAT 8/9 will be scored differently from the way ReadiStep was scored. It will share a common score scale with the other tests in the SAT Suite, and subscores and cross-test scores will provide added insight. Find out more about scoring.
